The 1989 Porsche 944S2

The Porsche's we owned - History from 2004-2005

The S2 was bought as a work horse at the time we have won more that 10 concourse titles and it was decided none of this concourse cars anymore. The S2 was not in the same category as the other cars as far as condition goes.

That is the reason that we bought it, to use it as a daily commuter.

This car with the three liter high output and good torque was really a pleasure to drive in any type of traffic. Even the bumper to bumper peak traffic was no problem at all.

The S2 was no slow coach as it had a top speed of 240 kph and 0-100 in 6 seconds.

This car was a lot of fun to drive. It was very maneuverable and handled superb. The car was also not so heavy as far as fuel consumption.

The Driving impressions of the 944S2

Here are some of my impressions with regards to driveability

You must keep in mind that the older cars should not be compared to the technology available today .

Performance :

This S2 was a superb car. It was stock standard and was bought to commute 100 mile per day. This is the car that I must say is most enjoyable to use in city and open roads. The torque was just so nice and to pass cars was a dream. This car was quick of the mark and had a top speed of 149 MPH (240 KMH) and it got there quick. The car is a pleasure to drive, the sport seats, ride height, clearance and every thing else was just right It had a five speed gearbox and the shift was perfect the clutch pedal was soft and easy in traffic.

Handling :

The 944 was good in this category. This car handled superb. I never took it to the track but on the road it was perfectly balanced even side winds did not make an impact.

Braking ability :

The braking ability of this car was good no mater what the conditions this was due to the magnificent 4 pod calipers all round as well as the ABS..

Overall:

The best and fastest work horse I have ever owned.!!!!!!!!!!
